Winner of Soma Weight Loss Health & Wellness Scholarship for Spring 2019 Announced

We are pleased to announce the winner of the spring 2019 Soma Weight Loss Health & Wellness Scholarship, Lindsey O’Sullivan. Lindsey has been awarded $1,000 to use toward her undergraduate education.

“What stood out for us in Lindsey’s application was her honesty, integrity and enthusiasm,” Dr. Naim said. “She wrote about turning her passion into a career and helping others. That’s what we need in healthcare providers.”

Lindsey completed certified medical administrative assistant and certified nursing assistant programs while attending Saint Lucie West Centennial High School in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She is currently pursuing a degree in sports medicine and fitness technology.

“As an athlete, I was able to figure out that with my love of sports and helping others, I could combine the two passions and help others in sports medicine,” she wrote in her essay.

Lindsey plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree and then a master’s degree. She has been accepted to Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Dr. Joseph Naim and the Soma Weight Loss team chose Lindsey because they were not only impressed with her commitment to her education in health and wellness, but also to living a healthy life and giving back to the community. She participated in sports, extracurricular activities and community service without losing focus on her academics.

“Lindsey is focused,” one of her reviewers wrote. “She has always balanced school, work and athletic commitment very well.”

One of her references noted that she is “as good or better than most of the student-athletes I’ve seen in the over 40 years of experience in this field.” In fact, all of her references expressed confidence in Lindsey’s successful future.
