LINX Surgery in Los Angeles
What is LINX surgery?
The LINX® Reflux Management System offers a non-drug alternative to patients diagnosed with Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD.
Reflux occurs when weakness in the lower esophageal sphincter allows harmful gastric juices (acid and bile) to flow up from the stomach into the esophagus.
LINX® is specifically designed to target this problem and prevent stomach contents from moving back up the esophagus once swallowed – which means no more heartburn, no more bloating and no more pills.

How does LINX surgery work?
LINX® is a small, flexible ring of magnets that are implanted around the esophagus to augment the weak lower esophageal sphincter.
The implant works simply, closing once food has been swallowed and preventing any backflow.
LINX® is implanted using a minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure, where a surgeon makes small incisions in the abdominal wall to get to the esophagus.
After a short outpatient procedure, with no surgery performed on your stomach, you can go back to living a medication-free life with a normal diet.
After LINX surgery
LINX® surgery recovery is relatively quick, with patients resuming normal activity within days. And although healthy eating is always encouraged, you won’t have to follow a GERD diet or special eating plan to remain symptom free – you can follow a normal diet.
Other benefits of the LINX® procedure include relief from the potentially debilitating side effects of GERD, including nausea and vomiting, regurgitation, diarrhea and constipation.
According to a study published in Journal of the American College of Surgeons, 91 percent of patients with the implant would undergo the operation again and 94 percent of them would recommend LINX® to others.
