Dr. Joseph Naim, surgeon
Dr. Naim is the Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at Soma Weight Loss. He’s been with the clinic for three years. Dr. Naim got his Medical Doctorate from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York.
“I’m in charge of taking care of the patients, starting with the consultation and followed by a safe and successful surgery and post-op care. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing my patients lose weight and getting to their goals,” Dr. Naim says. “My patients are my number one priority!”

Maiquel, office manager
When you start exploring your options for weight loss surgery with Soma, you’ll meet Maiquel. She’s been the office manager here for two years.
“I’m responsible for all the paperwork that comes before and after surgery, scheduling procedures and contacting patients for consultations and follow-up appointments,” Maiquel says.
“The best thing about my job is getting to meet different people every day. It’s exciting to get to know each individual and learn a little bit about everyone. Many of our patients come in a little nervous, which is completely normal. I understand that feeling, and I do my best to make them feel comfortable.”
Ami, patient coordinator
Ami’s been the patient coordinator for Soma Weight Loss for five years. You’ll work with her for numerous stops on your weight loss journey.
“I call new patients, discuss procedures and schedule the time and location for patients to see Dr. Naim. I advise patients on their non-surgical weight loss options. When patients are paying cash, I help them arrange financing,” Ami says.
“The most rewarding part of the job? When patients feel good and I can see their self-confidence grow.
“I love watching them be successful.”
Kristen, patient outreach
Kristen is another friendly face you’ll see at Soma Weight Loss. She works in patient outreach, making sure patients have everything they need to be successful.
“Part of my job is making sure patients are comfortable in discussing their medical concerns and personal goals with me. I also set up appointments and connect them with the proper resources,” Kristen says.
